When I direct, it is my job to provide the performers with all the tools they need for an excellent performance. That includes creating an honest, positive, and constructive atmosphere where the actors feel safe to express themselves, make big choices, and take risks. I aspire to build an inclusive and collaborative environment where my actors have the space to play. I provide a structural framework but always strive to remain flexible and open to letting the show change. In my opinion, granting creative freedom to the actors allows them to create art they identify with on a deeper level. It is my job to guide them and give constructive feedback on their art.
